Lessons learned--big and small!

The City - Daily Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 20:6 And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended from the giants. 7 And when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, struck him down. 8 These were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants."
I love this! The giants are back (whether 6'9" or 10 feet--there is some discussion there, but it need not interfere with the message--they were big guys!) but experience has taught them that with their reliance and trust in God, they can defeat this enemy. It is David's brother's son who takes down this giant. David's brother must have been itching to show his trust in God and I imagine just gave a word of encouragement to his son to go get him as David slew Goliath when David was just a boy as well. "You can do it, not because you are expert at war, but because God is with you! He is bigger, stronger and able to keep you safe in any circumstance. He is the Almighty! Now go get him! He taunts us as Goliath, he shall fall like Goliath! To the glory of our God! Blessed be His name! " Let us not fear when trials come near--be consoled and cheered with God's demonstrations of glory, honor and works and be faithful, thankful and sure!
Psalm 94:18 When I thought, “My foot slips,”your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.19 When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul! Our God is with us!
